Capt. Hunter Brown runs a restored 1987 Mangrove Skiff, which comfortably fishes two anglers and a guide. The Mangrove Skiff is the ideal boat for fishing Charlotte Harbor and the inshore backcountry of Boca Grande as it is a lightweight and shallow draft skiff that has the ability to handle rough water while being stable and open for clients. The boat is set up with a large cushion across the rear deck and a removable cooler seat, offering a comfortable ride for anglers. The Mangrove is powered by a new 115 horsepower Mercury 4-stroke, which offers great reliability and plenty of power. Capt. Hunter uses a push pole on the flats and in the backcountry rather than a trolling motor as it allows anglers to get closer to fish without spooking them. The skiff floats in less than 8 inches of water and is set up for running shallow with a hydraulic jackplate, trim tabs, and custom-built prop, which is ideal for this style of shallow inshore and backcountry fishing.
